Babes has a great space, located in the prime neighborhood of Carytown. The location alone is amazing for a lesbian bar. Then why is it that the owner can't see fit to put in bathrooms that are halfway respectable? Even the large one remodeled still has a screen torn out that has been there for years. If there is toilet paper, it is sitting out where its been dropped on the floor and handled by everyone. The small ones are grotesque at best, with toilet paper filling a hole where the door nob used to be. The walls on the bar side are carpeted, I assume from the 70's. It smells. The stools are painful to sit on, and any booth table you sit, wobbles to the point of more beverage on the table than in your mouth.
I pay cover many nights, and as a lesbian, I walk in there and feel like a second class citizen. Unfortunatly it is the ONLY club I have to choose from.
It has so much potential, but it continues to be a neglected run down bar that might as well be located out in the boonies, posing as a straight redneck bar.
Many lesbians feel that way, so they don't go there. Because it looks that way, most clientel don't bother respecting it and treat the bar accordingly. Therefore, some of the clientel is questionable at best.
The problem is, this is the only place so we put up with it.
Again having no choice but to be second class.

Its awesome place to just hang out and be yourself!!! The bartenders are awesome and friendly!!! Try it out!!!
