3 StarsDoes discrimination still exist here?, Mar 09, 2010
Reviewer: Malory from St. Pete, FL

I have not been to this bar, but my reason for writing this is because I am currently writing about GLBT issues for one of my journalism classes and I read on the message board that this bar discriminates against those who don't dress "gender appropriate." I was wondering if this still goes on. If anyone has had any recent problems with this issue please post a message and include your e-mail address and name so I may ask you questions for a story I may write. Thanks.

1 StarPoor Excuse for a Gay Bar, Jan 22, 2010
Reviewer: Nicholas from Tampa Bay Area , FL

HAd a Horrible time here. Just smelled Stale and the Drag Performers were Small Town and Drunk, and the Crowd was like walking into a College Dorm, with Cliques Very Obvious, Not a Friendly Bar, We met a Drag Queen Named Karress sitting Drunk wanting to show us her Titties One Nite, She asked my club companion if she could meet him in the Rest room and suck his penis to his satisfaction" what ever that was supposed to mean. The Bar was Small, took a while to get the bartender and when we did get our drinks they weren't what we ordered. We just drank our drinks and left.
We would not take a Friend to this Place.

This is a extremely small bar, more like a neighborhood watering hole. Nothing special, drinks are nothing to brag about and the crowd isn't anything special either.

1 StarMitch is a good bartender, May 29, 2009
Reviewer: Robbie from Clearwater

I didn't know anything about the dress code thing till I read it here. People should be able to be free and dress as they please ,not have to adhere to heterosexist comformity. Anyway, that said, I wanted to write to say how nice sexy Mitch is at the Christopher St. Bar. He has always been sweet no matter how busy it is, when I have seen him. It is a good place to stop for a drink. Friendly guys here, too. Wish they had a no smoking section, however.

1 StarIf it is really Christopher St, it should welcome TV's, May 29, 2009
Reviewer: Pete from Largo

The bar is rather dumpy and stale. I can't imagine any gay bar telling customers to dress "gender" wise but if this is true it should be boycotted. I am not a TV but believe in freedom. Anyway, there is a lack of any good bars around so lets hope this place will drop the insane prejudice.

Reviewer: Wendy from Warren, Michigan, USA

"We welcome everyone to our club. In response to customer complaints, we have enacted a dress code policy that simply states to dress gender appropriate..."

You would think of all people, gay people would understand the "we love you, but we just ask you to be normal" line that is so often used by famlies as to why you should not be gay or why you can't bring your partner along to the family gathering, etc...

By the way, this does beg the question: "If a lesbian in blue jeans and with a butch haircut comes in, will they toss her out?"

I'm guessing that they just want the straight customers to not feel uncomfortable. That they want to make sure that the only "guys dressed as girls" are on stage, and not in the audience.

So I see it as probably a business decision.

If so, good luck guys.

If your straight customers are that uptight about seeing a clockable T-girl or two or three in the audience, then they probably are of the same mindset who see of gay men and drag queens as freaks. Those same straights will never support you or any of your causes. They will never give gays the same legal rights that straight people have.

But they will pay the cover charge and buy the drinks, and ocassionally tip the performers. And the next day they'll talk about the freak show they saw at the fag bar...

1 Starnot a bar worth going to, Mar 26, 2007
Reviewer: Dawn Votro from Warren, MI

This bar, although it has a Drag Show, does NOT allow transgender people. Not the kind of place I would EVER want to go to. Where does the discrimination end? Who else will be rejected at the door? Not worth even thinking about.
Their statement:
We welcome everyone to our club.
In response to customer complaints, we have enacted a dress code policy that simply states to dress gender appropriate.
