The Bar on Castro spins club quality house music from respected local DJ's, none of this diva junk, but chunky funky deep soulful house over an above average sound system.
BOC resembles a miniature club that is reminiscent of old parties like Sugar (Sugar DJ's spin here now) and spaces like Liquid. The dark, dancey, friendly vibe makes this place popular with the under 35 hip cute crowd. Friendly bar staff.
It gets busy, so it’s a standing/dancing sort of space...with some seats along the perimeter and a smoking seating area at the front.
I recommend.

This space continues to pack em in every day! A great spot to chill after work or bump and grind to some good dance music.The clientle is mostly male, but not unfriendly toward them. Unlike many gay bars the crowd is ethnically diverse.
It should be noted that if you do not like the twink look or those who are into wearing Abercrombie and Fitch this may not be the place for you.
The music varies from House to Hip Hop to "Classics" depending on the evening. Check out Gloss magazine for the latest line-ups
